FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 9, 2017
|WEEK OF 10/9/17 AT-A-GLANCE|
LIBRARY @ HOME
All students have been sent the username and password to all of our library databases in their gmail. We have all of these wonderful, helpful resources and we want to be sure everyone can utilize them at home. To access all of our library databases, your child can check their Greenwood Lake Gmail.
HIGH SCHOOL CHOICE
Beginning in November, the 8th graders will begin the exciting, yet often difficult task, of exploring the individual high school options for next year. We have field trips for the students to visit Warwick on November 1st and Chester on November 3rd. During these visits students will be able to visit classrooms, speak with students and faculty, explore facilities, and see first hand the culture and individuality of each school. Furthermore, there will be a parent informational meeting on the evening of November 1st for Warwick and in Chester on November 6th. Finally, you will see a letter from Matthew Friedler, our school Guidance Counselor, encouraging you to reach-out to him if you have any questions or concerns. Attached to that letter will be the form for you and your child to complete in order to note your high School decision.
On 10/10, I’ll be sending home an important message via School Messenger about our One School, One Book campaign!
LET’S TALK ABOUT #BULLYING
Guidance Counselor, Matt Friedler, School Psychologist, Heather Greenberg, and I will be hosting a parent coffee to discuss what is (and what isn’t) bullying and how we can work together to support your children at school. All sessions will be the same and will take place on the following dates/times:
- Monday, 10/30 @ 9:00 (Middle School Cafeteria)
- Thursday, 11/2 @ 1:00 (Middle School Cafeteria)
- Thursday, 11/9 @ 7:00 (Elementary School Cafeteria at the PTSA Meeting)
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DISMISSAL
In an effort to maintain student safety, if you need to change your child’s after school transportation arrangements (ex. bus pass, pick up, etc.), we ask that you please inform the main office by 1:00 PM each day. Last minute calls and emails hold-up the buses and can cause confusion. Lastly, delaying our regular dismissal delays buses picking-up students to transport them to after school sports, as well. Ensuring your child’s safety is our top priority and we thank you in advance for your support.
YANKEE CANDLE TIME
The 8th Grade Class is once again running the Yankee Candle Fundraiser through the month of October. This fundraiser will go directly to the 8th grade students’ Washington, DC trip in May. Please help support our students with this fantastic fundraiser.
