FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 4, 2017
|WEEK OF 12/4/17 AT-A-GLANCE|
THIS WEEK’S NEWS & NOTES:
WHAT IS #BULLYING?
As you know, we had three workshops for parents to discuss bullying–what it is and what it isn’t. Oftentimes, the word “bullying” is used for all types of negative behaviors. We presented the same workshop for students on 11/30 in order to empower them with the same language we shared with parents. Here is the presentation we shared.
- As a note, the second video in the presentation is a Ted Talk by Shane Koyczan, a gentleman bullied in school who is now a spoken-word poet and writer who uses his art to share his experiences. This video is probably most appropriate for students in Grades 7 and 8.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES: EARLY RELEASE
Please remember that Thursday, 12/7, is an early release day; we will be dismissing promptly at 11:30 AM, with no after school activities! In Grades 4-6, please contact your child’s teacher if you haven’t scheduled a parent-teacher conference. Parents of students in Grades 7 and 8 won’t schedule an appointment; conferences are first come, first served.
During the next half-day on 12/7, just as they engaged on 11/22 and 11/30, students will participate in Explorations. Here is an introductory letter to see what they’re all about. I’m also sharing some other logistics related to the half days. Please also see the pics on Facebook from 11/22 and 11/30.
